School Games Silver Award Achieved!

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Silver Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic  year.

The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Our sporting achievements this year include:

  • Our very successful cross-country runners
  • The new fencing team
  • The successes of our archery team
  • Running club completing the Shrewsbury Half Marathon for schools
  • Haughmond’s Daily Mile challenge
  • The Christmas Truce football tournament

We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

Shropshire Sings

On Wednesday 11th July, our choir went to the West Mid Showground to take part in the Shropshire Sings concert along with other primary schools from all over Shropshire. After practising all afternoon, the concert took place in the evening and our choir sang their hearts out. It was a fabulous evening and the children did our school proud.

Afterwards, the choir described it as being “fun” and “amazing,” and they are already looking forward to next year’s concert.
