The New School Year 2018/2019

Posted on August 30, 2018 by Stuart Field

We are happy to welcome back pupils to school at 8.50am on Tuesday 4th September 2018. We look forward to seeing our existing pupils, who are moving into their new year groups, and those who are new to the school, including our new Reception children. We also welcome Mrs Roberts as the new Deputy Headteacher and Miss Lloyd-Jones as a new class teacher.

Classes:

Pimhill – Mrs Foster – Reception and Year One

Haughmond – Mrs Gregory – Year One and Year Two

Grinshill – Mrs Roberts – Year Two and Year Three

Stiperstones- Miss Lloyd-Jones – Year Four and Year Five

Wrekin – Mr Field – Year Five and Year Six

Entrance to school:

Pupils in Early Year and Key Stage One – Pimhill and Haughmond Classes with Mrs Foster and Mrs Gregory – should enter via the Key Stage One entrance.

Pupils in Key Stage Two – Mrs Roberts’ Grinshill Class, Miss Lloyd-Jones’ Stiperstones Class and Mr Field’s Wrekin Class – should enter via the main playground gate and line up by the doors, as instructed by their teachers.

Dinners:

All pupils in Early Years and Key Stage One are entitled to a Free School Meal. All other pupils are encouraged to choose a school meal at £2.20 each. Pupils may also choose to bring their own packed lunch, which can be kept in the school hall.

Discussions with teachers:

The start of the term is usually an exciting time for pupils, parents and teachers, however we do appreciate that for some pupils, they may have some worries or there maybe family news to discuss in school. Please arrange to see you child’s teacher via the school office (Mrs Winwood) at the earliest opportunity.

Homework and Spellings:

By the end of the first week of term, teachers will begin to notify pupils and parents of homework and spellings by using their Class Pages on the school website.

Asthma and other medical needs

Please be aware that it is vitally important that parents and carers provide a working and ‘in-date’ inhaler for pupils who suffer with asthma. Please send this in on the first day of term. If your child does have any other medical needs, especially new pupils and new medical issues, please inform the school office.

PE Kits

Pupils should bring in their PE Kits at the start of term – A white t-shirt, black or navy blue shorts and black or navy blue socks (pupils may also bring a sweatshirt and joggers for colder weather). It is expected that pupils bring in PE Kits for every lesson. Swimming lessons take place in Spring Term – parents will be advised accordingly.
