This week we went to Forest School as part of our Science work about habitats. We looked at the different plants in the environment and hunted for creatures that lived there too.

Planting Seeds
Today we have started our new Science topic. We are learning about how plants grow and have planted bean and cress as our first seeds today. We will also be planting sunflower seeds, wildflowers and bulbs as the topic progresses.
The Animal Man comes to Haughmond
Today we had a visit from Simon, the Animal Man, to support our learning about animal classification in Science. We learned about mammals, reptiles, amphibians and some invertebrates and some of us even faced our fears and held creatures we were nervous of meeting!
Winter Science
This week we have been learning about winter in our environment and the winter weather. We have explored the signs of winter in our school garden and how it has changed since we last looked at our environment in December. We collected leaves, seeds and other things that we could find and made ice windows.
Lambs!
As part of our learning about seasonal changes in Key Stage One, we have been learning about the different animals that are born in Spring. Today we were lucky enough to have a visit from Katie and the lambs from Chloe’s farm.
Habitat Hunting
In Science we have been looking at our local habitats. We explore the wooded area on the school field and recorded what we found in our wildlife notebooks.
