Today in Haughmond we had a visit from Lisa who runs Shropshire Falconry at Battlefield. She brought 5 different owls with her to launch our English topic, based on the book The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark. We learnt lots of facts about owls and were lucky enough to hold either Chris or Sid the owls. Biscuit, the long eared owl, flew over our heads to show how quietly owls are able to fly. One of the owls, Severus, was a black barn owl, which we found especially interesting, but our class favourite was Solo, the great horned owl who could wave hello and goodbye!
