Today we have joined in with many schools across the country to think about how to help ourselves and others with improving our mental health. All pupils have discussed strategies to practice to enhance their mood or feelings.
In Wrekin class, pupils watched the BBC’s online Live Mental Health Awareness at 2pm, joining in with activities and discussions around developing a growth mindset and self-care.
Thank you for your donations, which will be sent onto Young Minds to fund their work with children needing support.
If you would like to find out more about what we have discussed today, or about how to help your child and their mental health, follow the links:
Thank you! We have completed our first poster and are about a quarter of the way through completing our second! Please continue to send in the stickers in order that we can send in two entries!
We have again subscribed to Times Tables Rockstars to help the pupils’ quick recall of their times tables. At the moment, we are using it with the older pupils (Key Stage 2) but will roll it into Key Stage 1 in the coming months.
Your KS2 child has a login and can access the online resource to play games and test themselves against the clock for all times tables from x1 up to x12.
They receive rewards in the game, which they can then redeem to ‘buy’ new features for their ‘avatar’.As they continue to improve their speed and accuracy, they move from being a ‘Rookie’ band member to an ‘International Rock Star’ – it is very engaging and the feedback has been excellent from the pupils!

We would like to say thank you to all pupils, parents and carers for the amazing homework we have received this week about Trust and what it means to your families.
It is clear from their work that our stories, prayers and hymns in Worship in September have had a great impact on our pupils.
We will share the homework in school and some will be displayed in the hall.
Here is a very thoughtful example by Lauren (Y6), and her family.

We are proud to announce that we have been awarded the Woodland Trust Green Tree Award for our commitment to planting trees on the school grounds and sharing ideas about trees in Worship.
Mr Field’s Eco Club and Eco Council are now working towards achieving Silver Award.
Your child will have brought home a login for Reading Eggs (Key Stage 1) or Reading Eggspress (Key Stage 2). This online, interactive resource has been purchased by the school to deepen pupils’ reading skills and improve their comprehension in a fun and exciting way. It should be used in conjunction with reading books – Reading Eggs should be seen as additional reading to your child’s regular daily routine.
To login use these links:
or
Click the login button at the top of the page.
Once your child has logged in, you will notice that there are tasks for them to complete – the class teacher will set reading activities for the pupils. Usually these involve reading a passage and then answering questions about it. Please allow your child the time and space to complete these independently in order that the class teacher can make a reasonable assessment of your child’s work. The system sends a report to the teacher about the pupils’ answers, reading time and how many attempts they have made.
We will also be using Reading Eggs / Reading Eggspress in school for developing reading and comprehension skills.
Class teachers will signpost pupils and parents to the activities via the school website and homework books.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
Please be aware that we will be holding an informal Parents’ Afternoon on Tuesday 15th October for you to come into school and discuss your child’s progress with their teacher. You will also be able to see their work and discuss any elements of the school curriculum you would like to.
We will send out the final details via Parent Mail/website soon.
Please find attached the term dates for this year.
