Parents – Be Net Aware! Social Media/Apps/Games Advice for Parents

At school, we regularly teach children how to stay safe when using tablets, mobile phones, computers and consoles. We also realise that technology is evolving rapidly. In addition, social media use amongst children is increasing nationally. We would like to share this website with you to help you understand the rules and regulations around social media sites, apps and games to help keep your child safe.

This website has been recommended to the school by a leading ICT/Computing Advisor and has been developed by o2 and the NSPCC.

If you have any concerns or questions about e-safety, please contact the school.

Cross Country Success

On Wednesday 20th November, many of our Y3-Y6 pupils completed their final Cross Country race of the competition. We are very proud of their effort and every single pupil; has improved over the four weeks of racing. In addition, they have been running in very tricky conditions; wind, rain, mud and icy winds!

All results will be collated and some of the very high-performing pupils will be invited to take part in the North Shropshire Cross Country Finals next year.

Messy Church on 7 December

This time round we are doing something a little different for our final Messy Church of the year. As you know, Leaton Church is celebrating its 160th birthday with a Christmas Tree Festival, and we’re organising a Messy Forest Trail to be part of the festivities.

We really hope to see you there- the plan is as follows:

Saturday, 7th December, 8.30am- to finish at the church around 10am.
Meet and park at Leaton Forest (where you buy the Christmas Trees from).

We will have a walk around the forest, stopping at various points to hear some advent stories, worship together and reflect on Christmas. There will be about 45 minutes of actual walking, on all sorts of terrain- some mud, some bumpy bits…. please wear wellies and waterproofs! As ever, caregivers are responsible for children at all times.

After our walk, we will return to our cars, change into less muddy shoes and then drive across the road to Leaton Church, where there will be hot chocolate and refreshments! Here you will be able to enjoy the Christmas Tree Festival and admire the many trees.

Children in Need 2019

Thank you to all of the children who came in their multi-coloured clothes and donated money to the Children in Need Appeal!

All money will now be sent off to help good causes for underprivileged children.

We have been looking into how the money is used and what a difference it can make.

End of Half Term Reflection

All of the staff at Bomere Heath CE Primary School would like to thank all of the parents, carers and friends of Bomere Heath CE Primary School for their support this half term.

It has been an exciting half term, during which the pupils have covered some amazing topics, enjoyed fantastic activities, such as KS2 Cycling, and there have been several school trips – Year 6 went to Shrewsbury Abbey, Haughmond visited Aston Hall and Pimhill toured Shrewsbury Museum.

There is plenty more planned for next half term; including Stiperstones going to Wood Lane and Grinshill visiting The World Museum, Liverpool. And don’t forget the KS1 Nativity and Theatre Severn Aladdin pantomime in December!

A Prayer for Half Term

We thank you Lord, for this half term.
For the challenges, the successes, and the mistakes from which we have
learnt.
Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.
Keep us safe in our activities; give us good rest and good fun.
Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new half term.
Amen

Harvest Service

Today, we held a very successful Harvest Service at Leaton Church. Each class dedicated time in recent weeks to thinking about our theme: God’s world.

On Climate Action Day, pupils considered what is important to them in the world and how we can all look after it. This work fed into their ideas for the Harvest Service.

Pimhill and Haughmond sang about recycling and made models out of ‘rubbish’ that can now be played with! Grinshill talked about how they could look after the world, including writing some fantastic poems. Stiperstones and Wrekin researched all kinds of environmental issues and how we/they can help save the planet, as well as writing some very thoughtful prayers.

All in all, we are very proud of the work, ideas, prayers and promises the pupils created – it was truly their service!

Finally, we would like to thank all of the parents, carers, friends and family who came along to share the Service. Reverend Hannah Lins, the congregation and the staff at school would also like to say thank you for the generous donations to the food bank in Shrewsbury.

Dear Lord. Thank you for Harvest time when we can share with those less fortunate than us and remember how to love God’s world. Amen (Prayer written by Clementine, Y6)
