Careers Insight morning
Pupils in Year 1 to Year 6 enjoyed an informative morning on Wednesday, getting an insight in to a broad spectrum of possible future careers. Mrs Harmer did a splendid job on behalf of the school, organising seven guests from a variety of widely differing job roles to come in to speak and answer children’s questions regarding the world of work. The pupils, in mixed aged groups, rotated around the visitors so all children saw all of the presentations. This event was timed to take place during National Careers Week.
Our visitors may have inspired future journalists, graphic designers, business entrepreneurs, construction engineers, publishers, outdoor activity instructors or aviation engineers!
We would like to thank all of the visiting guests for taking the time to visit school and share their knowledge and experience with pupils and a give a huge thankyou to Mrs Harmer for co-ordinating the morning. She has organised a similar event for Ruyton school and may find she has forged a new career path for herself too!
Cross-Country Running Gold Medal
Bethany (Year 6) represented North Shropshire this week at the top level of the Shropshire Games. She had already won through 2 rounds to get to this final at Sundorne Sports Centre and was the first placed Year 6 Girls runner, which was a fantastic achievement.
Congratulations Beth, and we are sure you will continue your running career in years to come, with many more competitions to enter and that you will enjoy the challenge.
Maths Superstars
A team of Year 5 children represented our school at a Maths Challenge at Wrekin College last week. The children worked in pairs and were evenly matched, finishing within 2 marks of each other. The were placed mid-table in a competition involving over 80 primary schools from Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire schools.
Congratulations and well done to our participants, Joe, James, Ollie and Ella.
