Former Pupil Visits Year 6

This week former Bomere Heath and Corbet School pupil Beth Trow visited Year 6 pupils to talk to them about her journey from sports day successes on our school field to the European U-18 Athletics Championships.

Following her representing Shrewsbury Athletic Club and Shropshire County, as well as West Bromwich Albion FC and Shrewsbury Town FC at football, Beth represented Team GB at the European U-18 Championships in Slovakia in July.

Beth gave a presentation about her athletics and football journeys, training, successes and future goals, as well as answering questions about her promising career. The Year 6 pupils asked some amazing questions! Beth really helped them understand the importance of determination, resilience and being self-reflective in order to improve.

We thank her for giving up time from her busy training schedule to come in to see us again – and we wish her all the best for her upcoming training and races!

Y5/6 STEM Day

On Tuesday, Y5/6 pupils enjoyed a STEM Day!

In the morning, students had the chance to get hands-on with STEM and unleash their creativity as they took part in an exciting activity – The Space Challenge. Working in teams, students designed, built and tested a rocket for launching a satellite into space.

Then in the afternoon, students took part in a really fun activity – The Sustainability of Aerospace – challenging students to design a sustainable aircraft of the future, before developing a poster to present their ideas.

Anti-Bullying Week 2024: Choose Respect

This week is Anti-Bullying Week and the theme is ‘Choose Respect’.

We all want our children to be happy and safe, and it is natural to worry about bullying – particularly if we have experienced bullying ourselves or think our child may be more vulnerable to bullying. The good news is you are not alone! The Anti-Bullying Alliance and its members are here to work with children, families, and schools to help keep children safe.

Every November schools throughout the United Kingdom take part in Anti-Bullying Week. This is an opportunity to spotlight bullying and consider the steps we can take together to stop it. Anti-Bullying Week 2024 will take place from Monday 11th – Friday 15th November, with the theme: Choose Respect.

As a parent or carer, you are a vital piece of the puzzle in tackling bullying. You have a unique role to play in guiding and supporting your child through their school years and there are many positive steps you can take to help keep your child safe from bullying and harm.
