Wrekin Learning – Tuesday 21st April 2020
Good morning!
I hope you received your Fiction Express passwords yesterday – I think it will be a really good resource – as you will be able to read the chapters of a new books, then vote on what happens in the next chapter! You can do activities and quizzes linked to the book too!
Right then – what shall we do today?
- Joe Wicks Workout – get those squats and press-ups in early! YouTube – The Body Coach
- Maths – White Rose Daily lessons (remember to use the Summer Term lessons!) Year 5: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-5/ and Year 6: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/ Please do Lesson 2 for your year group (the answers are there and you can copy the work into your exercise books of you cannot print it!)
- English Reading – Fiction Express https://en.fictionexpress.com/ Log onto the website and have a browse around! There is a new book coming out on Friday – we will really focus on that then, but in the meantime, please start to read a Level 2 or 3 book from the list on the home-screen. Start with Chapter 1, then do the activities that go alongside it! I get to see a cool table of what you have read and your scores when I login – so make me proud! You can easily read the books on a tablet or phone outside, so you could enjoy the sunshine whilst getting on with your work!
- English Grammar – BBC Bitesize Daily Lesson – Modal Verbs This lesson is a good revision for Modal Verbs, including 2 videos then 3 activities to do in your exercise books!
- Geography – BBC Bitesize Daily Lesson – Settlements Check out this fab lesson from BBC Bitesize (in their new range of online daily lessons). It gives you a video and information about types of settlements, before you have to do an activity in your exercise books!
Keep up the good work Wrekin! I am missing you!

Wrekin Learning – Monday 20th April 2020
Good morning and I hope you had a happy Easter (I got a fantastic Maltesers egg; I was very happy!) I hope you managed to have a little chocolate too…
We will continue using online resources to help you continue to learn and keep busy over the next few weeks. We will be using some of the same resources, but we have also found some new one, which will be interesting.
- Start the Summer Term with Joe Wicks! https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1
- I will be posting Maths each day from White Rose – it seems to be the best resource available as it explains the concepts really well! There is a Year 5 and a Year 6 lesson (SUMMER TERM!) in the link below (click on Lesson 1 only – you will do the rest throughout the week!) https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-5/ or https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/
- BBC Bitesize are complimenting the White Rose Work and have a daily Maths lesson here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p089ny58/bitesize-911-year-olds-maths-1-lesson-1
- English work will be a poem today. I have been completely inspired by Captain Tom Moore, who has raised over £23 million for the NHS. He is 99 and has been sponsored walking up and down his garden! What a hero! Click here for more info: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-52333127 Write a poem that shows what a wonderful man he is – it could be an acrostic or rhyming….it’s up to you! Please send them into Mrs Winwood, who will pass them on!
Have a fantastic day! The weather will be good too, so remember to get outside (safely) and get some fresh spring air.

During the Easter Holidays, teachers will not be posting on a daily basis specific work for pupils, however you could look back and complete activities which you may have missed or not had time to do!
Furthermore, you could try out these suggested activities:

- Complete some Easter Activities kindly sent to us by the Lichfield Diocese Easter home pack
- It’s a great time to learn how to do Sudoku – http://www.dailysudoku.co.uk/sudoku/kids/
- Continue reading plenty of books and write a book review. You could use these to help you: KS1 Review or Lower KS2 or Upper KS2
- Use nRich to find maths problems for all ages (parents included!) https://nrich.maths.org/primary
- Now the weather is finally warming up, you could explore your garden (or when on a daily walk) and find mini-beasts! Make a record of what you find! Could you make a house for them? Write a report about them!
- Find the oldest item in your house (no – not your parents!) and find out where it came from, why your family now has it and how old it is!
- Ask your parents if you can help with preparing meals – could you write instructions how to do it?
- Draw a picture of what you want to be when you grow up!
- Make a model from your recycling bin! You might find an idea here: https://www.activityvillage.co.uk/recycling-crafts
- Take a daily star jump (or sit-ups or shuttle runs or burpees) challenge! Count how many you can do in a minute on Day 1, then repeat every day. Do you get fitter? Can you do more each day? Older pupils could draw a bar chart to show their results!
- Build a shelter in your garden! It could be for you, your parents/carers or even for your favourite teddy!
- Access some really interesting resources and ideas with Nat Geo Kids https://www.natgeokids.com/uk/
- Take a virtual tour of the National History Museum https://www.nhm.ac.uk/visit/virtual-museum.html
