End of Autumn Term Post
As Autumn Term ends, it is important to reflect on this last half term of 2019 in school. There have been some real highlights recently; the KS1 Nativity which was fantastic, the Christingle Service, the Pantomime Trip, The Football Truce afternoon, Pimhill have visited the Forest School each week, Grinshill visited Liverpool’s World Museum, Year 6 enjoyed a Maths Morning at The Corbet, Open the Book have shared Bible stories during several worship times and we hosted the Christmas Fair, raising nearly £500.
We would, as ever, like to thank all of the children, parents, carers and friends of the school for their continued support.
We look forward to 2020 and would like to wish all of the school community a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
A Christmas Prayer – by Robert Louis Stevenson
“Loving Father, Help us remember the birth of Jesus, that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and worship of the wise men.
Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.
May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children, and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus’ sake. Amen.”
Pantomime Fun
We visited Theatre Severn on Thursday 19th December 2019 to watch Aladdin!
We were sat in the stalls, with our pupils and staff right at the front, with a fantastic view!
We really enjoy our annual trip to the Panto at Theatre Severn and are already looking forward to next year!
Friends of Bomere Heath Raffle
We would like to say a huge thank you to all parents, carers and relatives who bought raffle tickets for the annual Friends of Bomere Heath Raffle. Hundreds of tickets were sold, with proceeds going towards the Friends’ fund to help the school purchase resources and books.
The first prize was £100, the second prize a wine and spirits hamper, the third prize a luxury food hamper and the fourth prize was a meal for two at the Corbett Arms.
Thank you to The Friends of Bomere Heath for their support, hard work and organising this event.
Christingle Service
On Wednesday 18th December, we visited Leaton Church for the annual Christingle Service. The church was beautifully decorated for the recent Christmas Tree Festival, which added to the lovely atmosphere for the service. Reverend Mary-Lou Toop and Reverend Hannah Lins led prayers and readings, with pupils from Year 6 teaching us about how Christingle started and Pimhill and Haughmond singing a song from their recent Nativity.
The highlight of the event was the whole congregation singing Silent Night with only the light of the candles on the Christingles flickering throughout the church.
The pupils behaved wonderfully, leading to a memorable morning.
Football Truce
On Monday 16th December all pupils took part in remembering the truce between German and British soldiers in World War One.
The pupils were in mixed-age teams, representing either a German or British team and played friendly games during the afternoon. It was rather muddy, we and cold, but certainly a fun afternoon that allowed us to pause at this festive time to think about this event.
Christmas Fair
Thank you to all parents, carers, friends and pupils who attended our Christmas Fair tonight. Thank you, also, for all of your donations for the stalls!
Santa arrived at about 1.30pm to meet the children in his grotto – we hope you enjoyed meeting him!
We have raised plenty of money towards buying new equipment, books and resources for the school – we are so grateful for your support at events like this!
We will announce how much money was raised as soon as possible!
Nativity Activity!
We would like to say a big well done to the Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils who this week have performed their Nativity to their parents! Each performance has been fantastic – some excellent singing, acting and dancing! And who could forget the wonderful costumes?
We would also like to say thank you to all of the parents, carers, family members and friends of the school who have attended the performances and assisted in costumes, props and getting children ready for the shows!
We look forward to more of the same next year!
