Our History

Bomere Heath is a Church of England School, and places high emphasis on shared values within a Christian context, both by example and by teaching. All children are welcome, whatever their beliefs. The original school, known as Preston Gubbals Church of England School, was opened in 1859 and was situated on a site at the junction of Preston Gubbals Road and Shrewsbury Road. The school was financed by Robert Slaney MP and his daughter Elizabeth Eyton. This building was replaced in 1956 by the present school.

Community Links and Opportunities

Bomere Heath CE Primary School is proud of its strong connections with the local community, which enrich the lives of our pupils and families. Our school hall is regularly used by the Bomere Heath Beavers, Cubs and Scout group during term time, creating opportunities for young people to develop skills and friendships. Parents and carers are warmly invited into school throughout the year to share lunch with pupils and staff, enjoying our cook Ro’s famous roast dinners—a highlight for many families.

In the summer term, Key Stage Two pupils benefit from the facilities at Bomere Heath Tennis Club during an after-school club, encouraging active lifestyles and teamwork. We also enjoy close links with the local Co-op, whose generous support has helped us with fundraising initiatives. In addition, we have excellent relationships with the village Parish Council, and we are deeply grateful for their ongoing support of our school.

We have strong links with our feeder secondary school, The Corbet School, where our pupils have many opportunities to take part in sporting events throughout the school year. Furthermore, we are proud to host an area sports tournament in the summer term, welcoming local primary schools to compete and celebrate sporting achievement together. These experiences help to build confidence, teamwork, and a smooth transition to secondary education.

These partnerships reflect our commitment to working together with the community to provide rich experiences and opportunities for every child.
