Archery

This week, Mrs Norris, Mr Lack and Mrs Oxford took 12 KS2 pupils to an Archery Festival at The British Ironworks Centre. Pupils really enjoyed trying out archery and improving their skills.

Mrs Norris runs a weekly Archery Club with KS2 pupils, in which she teaches pupils all about the bows, arrows and they have the chance to become budding archers!

If your child might be interested in starting archery, we can point you in the direction of Start Archery Start Archery – Begin Your Archery Journey where you can find out how to try out archery in the local area!

Shropshire Star Cash for Schools Winners!

£3,000 – Staff and pupils celebrate at Bomere Heath CE Primary School

Last week we were delighted to hear that we had won the second prize in the Shropshire star Cash for Schools competition. The sponsors, Enterpise-Flex-E-Rent, and representatives from the newspaper came to school to present a cheque for £3,000 towards our wonderful new wooden play equipment.  This was installed during the Easter holiday and children have been able to use it straight away, on a class rota basis. We have been fundraising for a long time and will continue to fundraise for this project. Please follow the link to see the report and our photo in the Shropshire Star! Shropshire Star Cash for Schools

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who collected tokens on our behalf, and a special thank you to all our supporters in the local community and beyond who collected on our behalf, including staff at the Co-op who were extremely helpful, and our tireless team of Friends of Bomere Heath School.  If you know any friends, relatives, neighbours who supported us in this PLEASE would you pass on thanks from the school and tell them the good news of our cash prize – we couldn’t have done it without all their help sending in the tokens to school, and are very grateful.

“Local Covid Hero” Nomination

Please read this letter we have received from Ruyton XI Towns Parish Council:

The Parish Council would like to publicise the fact that you and the staff at St John the Baptist and Bomere Heath Primary Schools have been nominated as local covid heroes of 2021. We thought you might like to publish this good news via your next newsletter.
The parish communities and the parents and carers of all the children at the Ruyton and Bomere Heath primary schools owe you and your colleagues a real debt of gratitude.

The way you conducted and maintained the levels of teaching, structured each school day and provided a range of distance learning tools and methods to suit the wide range of ages and abilities was second to none.

The dedication of everyone working and volunteering at both schools was truly tested and you triumphed in the most challenging of circumstances. We applaud you all.
The Lord Lieutenant’s Garden Party takes place locally in June and offers a unique opportunity for sterling work such as this to be publicly recognised. We trust you will be in a position to attend, enjoy the event and represent your fabulous team.

With kind regards,
Ruyton-XI-Towns Parish Council

Young Voices 2022!

On Friday 29th April, the Bomere and the XI Towns Young Voices Choir went to Resorts World Arena to perform in the Young Voices Concert 2022.

We had a fabulous day, rehearsing in the afternoon before performing with 113 other schools in the evening concert as the culmination of months of practice. We were especially lucky to be able to perform alongside saxophonist Yolanda Brown (from CBeebies), R&B and soul singer Ruby Turner, world beatbox champions The Beatbox Collective and learn some awesome dance moves from Urban Strides.

We were all very tried by the end of the day but are already looking forward to next year’s concert!

Here are some photos of our day.

Easter Egg Fun

In Pimhill Mrs Foster hid 300 paper eggs with the numbers 1-10 on. We had to find one of each  number and order them. If we completed the challenge we got a real Easter Egg. It was the best morning in Pimhill. Mrs Foster was pleased with the way we helped each other to make sure we all got an egg.

The Queen’s Jubilee Green Canopy

To start our celeberations for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee we planted 5 trees as part of The Queen’s Green Canopy.

In the rain Pimhill went out to dig the holes.

The sun shone when represenatives from each class came to plant a tree with Kris our Forest School lead and James Reynolds our govenor.

Lara led us in prayer .

In the afternoon Pimhill finished the planting and watered the trees.

Thank you to Albrighton Estate who donated our trees.

Design and Technology Making a vehicle for our Easter ducks

In Pimhill we looked at different wheeled vehicles. What makes them move? We discovered they needed a chassis and wheels and axel. We made a design brief and made a vehicle. Our Friends in Wrekin came to evaluate our vehicles and test them out with us.
