Easter Activities
During the Easter Holidays, teachers will not be posting on a daily basis specific work for pupils, however you could look back and complete activities which you may have missed or not had time to do!
Furthermore, you could try out these suggested activities:
- Watch a ‘Virtual Church Service’ from Holy Trinity Church in Shrewsbury (Sunday 10.30am) – https://www.achurchnearyou.com/church/4493/service-and-events/events-regular/
- Complete some Easter Activities kindly sent to us by the Lichfield Diocese Easter home pack
- It’s a great time to learn how to do Sudoku – http://www.dailysudoku.co.uk/sudoku/kids/
- Continue reading plenty of books and write a book review. You could use these to help you: KS1 Review or Lower KS2 or Upper KS2
- Use nRich to find maths problems for all ages (parents included!) https://nrich.maths.org/primary
- Now the weather is finally warming up, you could explore your garden (or when on a daily walk) and find mini-beasts! Make a record of what you find! Could you make a house for them? Write a report about them!
- Find the oldest item in your house (no – not your parents!) and find out where it came from, why your family now has it and how old it is!
- Ask your parents if you can help with preparing meals – could you write instructions how to do it?
- Draw a picture of what you want to be when you grow up!
- Make a model from your recycling bin! You might find an idea here: https://www.activityvillage.co.uk/recycling-crafts
- Take a daily star jump (or sit-ups or shuttle runs or burpees) challenge! Count how many you can do in a minute on Day 1, then repeat every day. Do you get fitter? Can you do more each day? Older pupils could draw a bar chart to show their results!
- Build a shelter in your garden! It could be for you, your parents/carers or even for your favourite teddy!
- Access some really interesting resources and ideas with Nat Geo Kids https://www.natgeokids.com/uk/
- Take a virtual tour of the National History Museum https://www.nhm.ac.uk/visit/virtual-museum.html
Have a great Easter
Pupil Work – Georgie’s Meerkat Guide
Well done here to Georgie, who has written a brilliant guide to meerkats, based on the LIVE Chester Zoo Tour this morning – I hope it inspires your writing!
Thanks Georgie – I am really pleased with it!
A Prayer from Rev Hannah Lins
Pupil Work Friday 3rd April
Good morning – it’s the last day of term today! That means that I would ordinarily choose the Star of the Half Term…and the winner is…all of you! It has been a really tough and unsettling time, but I have spoken to some of your parents and seen that you are completing some work online and in your exercise books, so thank you and well done!
Today, here are some activities:
- 9am Joe Wicks (but you can catch up all day!)
- English – Chester Zoo are hosting some live ‘zoo tours’ today, focussing on different animal enclosures throughout the day https://www.youtube.com/user/OfficialChesterZoo They did the same last week, and they were very informative. Watch one of your choice (the timetable is here:https://www.chesterzoo.org/virtual-zoo/) Then write a guide to one of the animals – remember to send it in to Mrs Winwood!
- Maths – Today, I would like you to look at percentages – use White Rose Maths to Year 5 Week 2, Lessons 3 and 4 https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-5/
- Art – We can’t get out and about at them moment, so I think it would be nice to do some artwork related to a landmark we love! Pick your favourite landmark from around the world, use the internet to find a picture of it and use these tips to draw a wonderful picture: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zdsb9j6
Enjoy your Easter holiday with your families, best wishes, Mr Field
Wrekin Pupil Work Thursday 2nd April
Good morning Wrekin Class!
I have been into school during the last couple of days – it is very quiet, as you would expect! Belinda is still in cooking those tasty dinners though! If any of you would like to, you could send her a letter or picture – she would love to hear from you!
- Joe Wicks is still at it! https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1 My children have been doing this each day at home – they have even been recording their own fitness workout videos- could you do the same?
- English – Education City still seems a bit glitchy when I have seen pupils working on it in school, so I will set another comprehension and spelling lesson todayhttps://readingeggspress.co.uk/ – KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK! Lots of you are working hard on your work; it makes me very proud!
- Maths – I haven’t set online work today – but I would like you to undertake a fun, practical activity which might help you think about happy times! I want you to plan what you would take on a holiday! Use the internet or a brochure you have at home to plan at least 10 items you might take away on a holiday (choose, camping, beach, city or even a polar break!). Remember – you will need good luggage, some clothes, toys and maybe even a new ipod! Write down the prices in your exercise books, and add them up! What if you get a 10% discount? How much will it cost then? What about 25% off?
- PSHE – I have found this videohttps://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zjypyrd which is about two boys who were best friends, but one moved away and the importance of keeping in touch – some of you might feel that you are missing friends. Could you write a message to a friend who you are missing to say what you have been up to? You could ask your parents/carers to send it on electronically or by post. Draft a letter in your exercise book, so even if you don’t send it, you can still write down what you want to say to that special friend. Remember to stay safe online if you are sending emails and get your parents’ permission!
BEAM – Email Service
Some families have worked with BEAM, however the service is not currently operating as it normally would. We are pleased to share that they are offering an email service, which would involve a callback. Please see here for more details : FLYER
Parental Support – Reading Eggs / Reading Eggspress
As you may be aware, all pupils should have their own login to Reading Eggs / Eggspress at home as teachers are setting reading and spelling activities online.
Here is a guide to help you work with your pupils on the online resource: Reading Eggs – Parent Help Guide
