Today, the school council members from Healthy Helpers carried out a Health and Safety audit of the school.
They walked around the entire school with the caretaker Mr Jones and Chair of governors Keith Lister. They made sure the school was safe and identified any issues that may need addressing. The children were very thorough and carried out their roles fantastically.
There are two homework tasks for you to complete this week.

On Saturday the Friends held a fabulous Fun Day on the school field, the sun came out and everyone had a super time, although there may have ben a few sore arms from the tug of war afterwards!
There was a great turn out, thank you to everyone who attended and/or donated, and we are pleased to say that the day raised a huge £1320.54!
Today we visited Mission Church in Bomere Heath as part of our R.E. learning about why some places are sacred to believers. We looked at features of the church and Rev. Hannah taught us about them, and about how the colours in the church change according to the church calendar. We also found out about the different uses for the church building as well as being for Worship and found out about some of the ways that Christians worship in services.
What a busy start to the school year!
In Haughmond we’ve got straight into the swing of our learning, launching our topic with a Heroes theme day. We have begun looking at the seasons and weather in Science, carrying out a colour survey of the outside area and making windsocks to learn about wind direction. In English we have begun the book troll swap and worked collaboratively to explore and make predictions about the characters and in R.E. we’ve begun looking at places of Worship and what makes them special. We’ve even met some baby pigeons that Mrs Whittaker rescued and Mrs Gregory is now hand-raising, meaning that we can see how they grow up.

In order to mark the passing of Queen Elizabeth II we would like to create a community book of memories which will remain in school for years to come, and which can be shared with future generations of school children in Bomere Heath. As such, we would like you, as a family, to share your memories of, and feelings about, Her Majesty with us for inclusion in the book. This can be in the form of pictures, photographs or writing and we would like it to be a collaborative project, and can include input from members of your wider family as well as those you live with.
Our book is A3 in size, so please make sure your contribution is smaller than this, and is also as flat as possible.
Today we have spent time in class talking about and reflecting on the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and being thankful for her life. We have talked about her life of service making her a hero for us. Here are some of our thoughts.
Dear Friends,
At Bomere Heath C.E Primary School we are all deeply saddened by the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
We shall remember her service through our learning and Worship, and consider how as our Queen she was the embodiment of, and a role model for, our school values of Love, Hope and Respect. We will be thankful for the times that we have been able to come together as a community to celebrate Royal jubilees, birthdays and weddings.
Our thoughts and prayers are with our new King, Charles III, along with the wider Royal Family as they mourn the loss of a beloved mother and grandmother.
Welcome back to a new school year. I hope you have had a great summer break.
This year we will be learning about ‘The Ancient Maya’. We will also be going on a school trip this term as well, more information to follow.

PE days are Thursday and Friday.
Homework will be given out on a Friday and due in the following Wednesday. It will be a mixture of online work and activities in homework books. Times tables will be a big focus in year 4 and 5, so daily practise on tables will really help your child. Children will be bringing home reading books this week with new reading records. It is really important for children to still read aloud to a grown up, pet dog, sibling or even via zoom to a grandparent!
Please remind your child to bring a water bottle to school, with only water in it please.
Miss Steadman and Mrs Oxford are also in Stiperstones class and we are all really looking forward to this year!
