Week beginning 20.04.26

What a fantastic week we’ve had in class!
In English, we’ve dived into our new book, Jack and the Baked Beanstalk, while our Guided Reading sessions have taken us into the enchanting world of Grimm’s Fairy Tales.
The children are absolutely smashing it in Maths! We’ve been working incredibly hard on fractions and the progress is brilliant to see. Our Topic work has transported us to Llandudno; we are loving exploring the town and identifying all its different physical and human features.
In Art, we’ve been inspired by the work of L.S. Lowry. This week, we focused on his specific use of colour and experimented with adding black and white to change tones and shades.
Quick Reminders:
  • Homework: Please remember to check Emile and TT Rockstars every week.
  • Reading: Please continue to read at home with your children as often as possible.
Have a safe and enjoyable weekend, everyone!
Miss Reese

Emile – Schemes of Work, Assessments & Games

Hello everyone!

We are making some slight changes to our weekly homework to make learning even more interactive and engaging for the children. While we are introducing some fantastic digital tools, we are keeping a healthy balance with traditional paper-based practice too.

Super Spelling with Emile

We are thrilled to be fully integrating the Emile spelling scheme. To help the children master their weekly words, we will now be using the Emile website.

  • How it works: Your child can log in to play a variety of fun, educational games specifically tailored to their current spelling level.

  • Paper Practice: Don’t worry—we aren’t ditching the pencils! I will still include a spelling sheet in the homework books that matches the website, so children can continue to practice their handwriting and muscle memory.

Times Tables Rockstars (TTRS)

To boost our math fluency, we are officially launching TT Rockstars for our weekly times tables practice.

  • The Goal: We will be focusing heavily on our 2s, 5s, and 10s.

  • The Challenge: Once we’ve mastered those, we are hoping to rock our way through the 3s as well!

Getting Logged In

I will be handing out individual login cards for both Emile and TT Rockstars during Parents’ Evening this afternoon.

If you have any trouble accessing the websites or have questions about how the games work, please don’t hesitate to ask me during our meeting or catch me at the door. I’m more than happy to walk you through it!

Thank you for your continued support in your child’s learning journey.

Miss Reese 🙂

Living Streets Badge Competition – Let’s Get Moving, Bomere!

We’re excited to announce that Bomere is taking part in this year’s Living Streets Badge Competition, celebrating all the brilliant, environmentally friendly ways we travel to school. Whether you walk, wheel, scoot, cycle, or park and stride, every small change helps make our journeys greener, healthier, and more enjoyable.

All pupils are invited to design a badge that represents sustainable travel and the spirit of Living Streets. This is a fantastic chance to get creative while supporting a cause that really matters.

Important Deadline

All entry forms must be completed and handed in to Miss Reese by February 13th so they can be judged and sent off in time. Make sure your design is bold, thoughtful, and shows what eco‑friendly travel means to you.

We’re hoping Bomere will shine and maybe even take home the winning design for the next official Living Streets badge. Imagine seeing your artwork worn by thousands of pupils across the country!

Good luck to everyone taking part. We can’t wait to see your amazing ideas and celebrate the positive ways we travel to school.

All sheets will be sent home with children today and there is an attached version if needed.

School Closure Update: Tomorrow

Due to the heavy snowfall and for the safety of our students and staff, the school will be closed tomorrow. While we are shut, I have set some optional learning activities to keep your brains ticking over: please spend some time reading your books, practising your spellings in your homework books, and working on your 2, 5, and 10 times tables.

However, since we don’t get snow days very often, I truly hope you take the time to wrap up warm and enjoy the weather! If you can, please take some pictures of your snowy adventures to share with the class when we return. Stay safe and warm, and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday!

On Monday please could children bring in wellies or shoes you don’t mind getting dirty ready for fun we have planned for science 🙂

Homework and Spellings for Spring Term

Homework is given out on a Thursday, including spellings. This is to be returned the following Friday.

Reading books will be sent home daily, we would appreciate your help to support your child to access their reading book 3-4 times per week.

Spelling tests will be on a Thursday morning.

In homework books will be one task and a list of spelling for children to practise ready for their spelling test. The spellings are all based of sounds we are learning in phonics and common exception words from year 1 and 2.

Any issues with Homework please come and grab me at the gate for a chat.

Dojos are given out for efforts in homework and reading 🙂
