Lambs!

As part of our learning about seasonal changes in Key Stage One, we have been learning about the different animals that are born in Spring. Today we were lucky enough to have a visit from Katie and the lambs from Chloe’s farm.

Reading the Game – Session 2

Stiperstones had another great session with Coach Neil. We practised our reading comprehension skills and learned some tips and tricks to help us answer the questions. We had a visit from Lenny the Lion who was very impressed with the work we were doing!

In our PE lesson, we had a go at doing a ‘rainbow flick’ and ended the session with a game of football. Well done to our players of the match, Francine and Ciaran. They both showed excellent team work skills!

Online Safety Guides

It is vital that all pupils stay safe online. In school, we teach children about all aspects of e-safety regularly.
We are aware that in today’s world children are able to access online resources, entertainment and games daily. Many of our older pupils have mobile phones and most of our pupils have games consoles/tablets/laptops which are connected to the internet. It is now common for older primary school children to communicate with each other via their devices (mobile phones, tablets and even consoles).
With this in mind we would like to signpost you to a fantastic website from the NSPCC. We work with the NSPCC regularly when they come into school to work with the pupils to help them keep safe and support us in teaching the pupils about their rights and what to do if they feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
The link below will take you to a webpage full of information about online safety – it is designed for parents and gives advice of how to monitor children online, how to setup parental controls and what to do if things go wrong.
We urge you to take time to read these and discuss them with your children. Many parents have reported to us that they have, for example, set up parental controls on PS4s or screen-time limits on tablets, which is fantastic –  if you have not yet looked into this, the guides on the website below will show you how!
https://www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/online-safety/
We hope that you find this useful and it helps you keep your child safe online.

Grinshill Class – Preston Montford Trip

We had an excellent day out yesterday using our geography skills.

The children were able to use a range of skills and equipment, such as; map making, reading data on ipads, taking wind speed, wind direction, temperature, humidity and light.

This information was then used to find the best place for an outdoor classroom, which the children designed.

We were all a little wet and cold at the end of the day, but still enjoyed a great day.

Fire Safety Visitor – Thursday 17th February 2022

Grinshill class were visited today by Shropshire Fire services to talk about being safe at home.

They were all amazing and Richard Taylor was very impressed with their thoughtful questions.

There is an opportunity for the children to receive a certificate, if they complete the tasks coming home with them today.

Kind regards

Mrs Sallie Roberts
