Homework 3.3.23

Today in our workshop with Teresa Heapy, you created your own ‘very little’ characters like her Very Little Red Riding Hood and Very Little Cinderella. This week I would like you to write your own story using your own character. See if you can make your story into a little book that you can share with the class.

Homework – 10th February 2023

Money

We have been learning about money in maths over the last couple of weeks. Please could you practise making specific amounts of money with different coins with your child. This could be through playing games such as shops or going to an actual shop and helping your child to pay. If possible, please also include giving change.

Year 2 – You also have a calculation using money sheet to complete. You might want to do this with your grown up.

Multiplication

Next week, we are moving on to learning how to multiply. Please could you practise the times tables at home, focusing on 2, 5 and 10 times tables. Remember, you can also log on to Times Tables Rockstars to keep practising.

Homework 21.10.22

This week for your homework I have sent home with you number formation sheets and a times tables mosaic. There are 90 questions on the mosaic so you don’t have to do it all at once!

Over half term, please keep up with your reading and Times Tables Rockstars if you use it. Also, here is the link to the punctuation superheroes game we looked at in English today. https://www.bbc.co.uk/games/embed/small-town-superheroes?exitGameUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fbbc.co.uk%2Fbitesize%2Farticles%2Fzncgvk7

Homework 14th October 2022

Topic

Through our learning this half term we have been finding out about significant people within black history. This has included Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, Mae Jemison and Marcus Rashford. The children have expressed interested in finding out about other people, such as Serena Williams. As it is Black History Month, for your homework I would like you to research another individual within recent or older black history who has made an impact on society in some way, or is an inspirational figure, and create a factfile about them.

Maths

  1. The children are today bringing home a copy of their completed Maths Smash sheets from this week. Maths Smash is an activity which supports the rapid recall of key number facts and which the children complete each week. They complete the same task each week until they achieve a green score (41 – 50), when they move up a level. Please could you help the children review their work with where they have made mistakes and help them to practice the key facts.
  2. Please remember to have a go Times Tables Rockstars. We need to make sure we know our 2, 5 and 10 times tables really well by the end of Year 2.

Homework 23.9.22

There are two homework tasks for you to complete this week.

  1. Maths – Please could you all practice your number formation, especially making sure that all of your digits are facing the right way, and if you are practicing 2 digit numbers that the numbers are in the correct order! You could do this in all sorts of ways, maybe try painting numbers, or using chalk in the garden.
  2. Science – since finding the great crested newts in our school pond, I would like to create a display about them in the hall. Please could you create something about great crested newts for this. It could be a model, poster, a picture, painting, collage or factfile. It’s completely up to you!

Homework is due in next Friday morning.

Mystery Object!

Today we reached the nineties in our tour of the decades. I gave the children the mystery object below to study and have challenged them that for their homework they need to work out what it is, what it was used for and how it worked! I hope the children’s answers don’t make you feel as old as I do now!

Coleslaw Homework

We have had great fun today making our Jubilee coleslaws (pictures will be on our Haughmond News page). Most of us have managed to save some to bring home for our families to taste too!

For homework, I would like you to taste test your coleslaw with your family. I would like you to find out and record what other people thought about the appearance, texture, taste and smell of your coleslaw. Record what they said and bring it to school after half term so you can use their comments in your evaluation.

Also, please take a photo of yourself (and others) eating your coleslaw and e-mail it to the school office or Mrs Gregory so that they can be added to your DT books.

Times Tables and Number Bonds

For the next couple of weeks I would like you work really hard at learning your 2, 5 and 10 times tables and the division facts that go with them.

Here are some websites that you can use to help your practising.

www.timestables.co.uk/

There are also lots of apps that can help you remember the facts.

Also, I would like you to keep practising your addition and subtraction facts. You could use the 1 Minute Maths App from White Rose to help you with this. It is free to download.

I would like you to try and spend some time practising each day in order to really secure your knowledge of these facts.
