Emile – Schemes of Work, Assessments & Games

Hello everyone!

We are making some slight changes to our weekly homework to make learning even more interactive and engaging for the children. While we are introducing some fantastic digital tools, we are keeping a healthy balance with traditional paper-based practice too.

Super Spelling with Emile

We are thrilled to be fully integrating the Emile spelling scheme. To help the children master their weekly words, we will now be using the Emile website.

  • How it works: Your child can log in to play a variety of fun, educational games specifically tailored to their current spelling level.

  • Paper Practice: Don’t worry—we aren’t ditching the pencils! I will still include a spelling sheet in the homework books that matches the website, so children can continue to practice their handwriting and muscle memory.

Times Tables Rockstars (TTRS)

To boost our math fluency, we are officially launching TT Rockstars for our weekly times tables practice.

  • The Goal: We will be focusing heavily on our 2s, 5s, and 10s.

  • The Challenge: Once we’ve mastered those, we are hoping to rock our way through the 3s as well!

Getting Logged In

I will be handing out individual login cards for both Emile and TT Rockstars during Parents’ Evening this afternoon.

If you have any trouble accessing the websites or have questions about how the games work, please don’t hesitate to ask me during our meeting or catch me at the door. I’m more than happy to walk you through it!

Thank you for your continued support in your child’s learning journey.

Miss Reese 🙂

Spelling tests will be on a Thursday morning.

In homework books will be one task and a list of spelling for children to practise ready for their spelling test. The spellings are all based of sounds we are learning in phonics and common exception words from year 1 and 2.

Homework in books for tomorrow will be for the next 3 weeks until after half term. There is a maths task and a topic task that will take more time. Please don’t be afraid to be creative. We are very excited to see what all children come up with.

Spellings and homework summer half term

We will be using the year 1 and 2 common exception words as spellings this term to really help with our writing. I will attach the common exception words below.

Homework is given out on a Wednesday alongside spellings and will be a mixture of a maths or SPAG task to help consolidate what we have already taught within class.

Wednesdays will be spelling test days for the spellings that were sent home the previous week. Homework folders should be brought back in for a Wednesday ready for the new homework to be put in.

I have loved looking through all your Easter homework and all the fun things you got up to over the half term!
