Listen to the stories with your child, ask them questions about the character or plot (to check they are listening carefully!) and, most of all, enjoy them!

Classroom Secrets have produced some worksheets designed to keep pupils busy during any school closures. They are designed to be printed off, but they may also be used ‘on-screen’ with pupils writing their answers in their exercise books and parents checking them using the answers provided! There is a link on this page to each year group with plenty of work to do! No password is required.

This site is old and no longer updated and yet there’s so much still available, from language learning to BBC Bitesize for revision. No TV licence required except for content on BBC iPlayer.

Free to access 100s of courses, only pay to upgrade if you need a certificate in your name (own account from age 14+ but younger learners can use a parent account).

In these worrying times, here is a lovely, short and simple story to help us all, but especially our pupils:
We have been learning about the importance of washing our hands with soap to fight off germs. We did an experiment with soap and peppery water to represent the germs and saw how the soap repelled the pepper (germs).
In R.E. we have been learning about symbolism associated with Easter, including finding out about why we have Easter eggs. We decorated our own eggs to put on our prayer tree for the Easter season. All of our eggs included the cross as we decided this was the most important symbol of Easter.
On Friday 13th March we visited Chirk Castle. We learnt about what life used to be like in the castle for the servants and found out about the life of the guards who defended Chirk against enemies.
For World Book Day this year, the children in Pimhill and Haughmond dressed up as characters from their favourite stories. Here are some of their fabulous costumes!
As part of our Science this half term we have been learning about significant British scientists and inventors. We learnt about Charles Macintosh and waterproof materials. We thought about the floods in Shrewsbury and then investigated different materials to make waterproof outfits for people who have to work in the floods. We then wrote to the Environment Agency with our findings.
