Bird Feeders

As part of our learning about seasonal changes and our environment, we have been finding out how it is harder for animals to find food when the weather is cold and frosty. We made bird feeders using pine cones, lard and bird seed. Then we hung them outside in our garden.

Stiperstones Class Spring Term Overview!

Welcome back Stiperstones, it’s been lovely having you back in class and working hard. We have lots of exciting things happening this term. Take a look at our topic overview to see what we’ll be getting up to.

There is a few changes this year in terms of days that things happen. You will need to come into school in your PE kit on Thursdays and Fridays. You will be going swimming on a Friday afternoon for the whole term. Homework will now be given out on a Friday and needs to be back in school on Wednesday. Pbuzz and Percussion will still take place on a Thursday.

Haughmond Spring Term Overview

This term in Haughmond we are going to be basing much of our learning around our History and Geography theme of holidays. To focus our learning further, we are going to think about two key questions. In Geography we will think about ‘Where Shall we go on Holiday?’ and in History we will find out ‘What Were Holidays Like in the Past?’

Below is a link to our termly topic overview, with further details of our History and Geography along with details of other areas of learning.

Grinshill class – Spring Term – Overview

Spring 2022 USA UK

This is an overview for the term, this follows on from my post last week.

To clarify, PE kit needs to be worn on Thursday and Friday. On Friday a full swimming kit is needed; costume or trunks (NOT BIKINI), towel, goggles (If required), swimming hat for girls or hair tied up, plaits normally work well.

Kind regards,

Mrs Roberts – Class Teacher

Anti-Bullying Resources

We recently experienced anti-bullying week in school, when we focussed on kind words, helping others and looking out for each other.

The official website carries some resources for parents and carers, as well as plenty of information about bullying, mental health and strategies to help each other.

Here is the link:

https://anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk/anti-bullying-week/parents-and-carers

I would urge you to have a look at the resources and talk to your children about it!

Many thanks

Mr Field!

Mobile Phone Safety – Help Your Children!

Do you want to help your child use their mobile phone safely?

We know that some of our older pupils have their own mobile phones and we regularly talk in classes about how to stay safe whilst online or using their phone.

I have seen a useful resource from EE that is designed for parents and carers of older primary-age children – it allows grown-ups to fully understand how children use their phones, how to help them identify risks and also gives children a ‘PhoneSmart Licence’ if they complete the ‘course’!

You simply need to register yourself, then set-up your child’s profile, then they can log-in and complete some fun online activities with you to show they understand how to use their phone in a ‘smart way’!

https://eephonesmart.co.uk/

In this world of changing communication and media use, it is really worth while taking control of helping our children – I hope this is useful and I would appreciate any feedback!

Notes from the Music Room 10

Notes from the Music Room 10

This week the music room has been full of Christmas cheer with rehearsals for Chistingle and other Christmas performances. The children have worked hard with both Mrs. Kessel-Fell and Mrs. Roberson and each week the standard of singing and playing keeps on improving. Each class is working on performance pieces, but also learning specific musical language and developing the skills needed to become musicians, such as team work, compromise and listening. Each week we see children helping each other to learn a new part of a song, or check that they are playing the right note and celebrate each other’s successes within the classroom and clubs. Well done to everyone, you should be proud of yourselves.
