Easter Holiday Provision

We would like to thank all of our school community for how they have calmly continued their good work over the last few weeks; it has been a strange situation, however we have tried to give the pupils some continuity via the school website to post work that can be completed at home.
Some pupils, as you may know, have been in school as the children of Key Workers and/or vulnerable children. The government have asked all schools to stay open during the Easter break to continue to cater for Key Worker children and vulnerable children, where there is a need.
As no families currently require this facility at Bomere Heath CE Primary School, we will be closed during the Easter Holidays.
We will continue to take the appropriate government advice for provision following the Easter Holidays and will send out information regarding how to access this provision during the second week of the Easter holiday, to  parents/carers.
We continue to provide food boxes, to those who normally access free school meals, through the Easter Holidays – the second delivery of these is due next Tuesday – if you think you should have received one of these or that your circumstances have changed and you now are in need of one of these, please call Mrs Ball on 07376 182556.
Should you have an urgent need for the school provision or food box to support your family then please call Mrs Ball 07376 182556. We will try and answer your query as quickly as possible.
We hope that you remain safe and happy during the Easter Holidays.

Easter Activities

During the Easter Holidays, teachers will not be posting on a daily basis specific work for pupils, however you could look back and complete activities which you may have missed or not had time to do!

Furthermore, you could try out these suggested activities:

  • Watch a ‘Virtual Church Service’ from Holy Trinity Church in Shrewsbury (Sunday 10.30am) – https://www.achurchnearyou.com/church/4493/service-and-events/events-regular/
  • Complete some Easter Activities kindly sent to us by the Lichfield Diocese Easter home pack
  • It’s a great time to learn how to do Sudoku – http://www.dailysudoku.co.uk/sudoku/kids/
  • Continue reading plenty of books and write a book review. You could use these to help you: KS1 Review or Lower KS2 or Upper KS2
  • Use nRich to find maths problems for all ages (parents included!) https://nrich.maths.org/primary
  • Now the weather is finally warming up, you could explore your garden (or when on a daily walk) and find mini-beasts! Make a record of what you find! Could you make a house for them? Write a report about them!
  • Find the oldest item in your house (no – not your parents!) and find out where it came from, why your family now has it and how old it is!
  • Ask your parents if you can help with preparing meals – could you write instructions how to do it?
  • Draw a picture of what you want to be when you grow up!
  • Make a model from your recycling bin! You might find an idea here: https://www.activityvillage.co.uk/recycling-crafts
  • Take a daily star jump (or sit-ups or shuttle runs or burpees) challenge! Count how many you can do in a minute on Day 1, then repeat every day. Do you get fitter? Can you do more each day? Older pupils could draw a bar chart to show their results!
  • Build a shelter in your garden! It could be for you, your parents/carers or even for your favourite teddy!
  • Access some really interesting resources and ideas with Nat Geo Kids https://www.natgeokids.com/uk/
  • Take a virtual tour of the National History Museum https://www.nhm.ac.uk/visit/virtual-museum.html

Have a great Easter

Spirited Arts Competition

Every year the National Association of Teachers of R.E. hold an art competition called Spirited Arts and this year we were going to take part as a school. As we can no longer do that, I am attaching the details of the competition in case anyone would like to create an entry at home. There are a number of themes on which your art could be created. These are judged in different age groups and the winners get themselves an Amazon voucher!

Full details can be found here:  https://www.natre.org.uk/uploads/Spirited%20Arts/Spirited%20Arts%202020%20competition%20details.pdf and examples of previous year’s entries can be seen here: https://www.natre.org.uk/about-natre/projects/spirited-arts/spirited-arts-gallery/2019/

If you do create an entry, please send it into the school office so we can send the school entries in together.

Happy creating!

Mrs Gregory

A Prayer from Rev Hannah Lins

Rev Hannah and the Open The Book team have really missed coming into school, but have been thinking about us all.
Rev Hannah has shared this prayer with us to think about Easter:
Creator God,
We thank you that you are always with us, even in this strange and difficult time.
We pray for each other- for friends we cannot be with, family in different homes, our teachers, frontline workers, people who are unwell and those who look after them. We pray in our sadness as we notice dreams and hopes that, for now, are lost.
In our homes this holiday time, when we are worried, help us to feel your peace. When things go wrong, help us to know that we can always start again. When we feel joy,  may we remember it and let it fill us.
On Good Friday, when so much of our normal lives has been given up, may we be comforted as we remember that Jesus gave everything up for us.
And when we celebrate life and hope on Easter Day, may it sink into our souls and make us happy. Wherever we are, and whatever we face, may we all know God’s love and look forward to a time when we can all be together again.
Amen.

Pupil work – Keeping yourselves safe online!

Here is some very important work to do this week!

We are really keen that all pupils remain safe online – we are aware that some may be using their devices more than usual to do homework and keeping in touch with friends and family.

Here are some links to guide children and parents and carers in staying safe online:

  • Think U Know – KS1
  • Think U Know – KS2
  • Think U Know – Parents

What do you need to do if you need to report something?

  • Use the NSPCC Website https://www.childline.org.uk/ or call 0800 11 11
  • or send an email into school admin@bomereheath.shropshire.sch.uk
