On Tuesday 10th July 2018 pupils will experience life in their new classes for September. Current Year 6 pupils will be attending their secondary schools, whilst all other pupils will meet their new teachers for the day. Pupils should go to their existing classes first to register and give lunch information, before being directed to their new class.
The teachers are very much looking forward to this event, but of you have any questions, please pop into school.
Well done to the pupils from a range of our local schools who came along to Bomere Heath this week to compete in the annual Area Sports.
Pupils from Bomere Heath, Kinnerley, St John the Baptist Ruyton, Weston Lullingfields and Bicton schools arrived to take part in races throughout the morning. Each school had many pupils winning events such as egg and spoon, 250m, sprints, the sack race and the amazing relay. Both the boys and girls relay races were won by St John the Baptist at Ruyton, so they walked way with the Relay Shields.
We would like to thank all competitors and their teachers for attending and look forward to next year’s Area Sports Day!
Today we have been exploring the rainbow as a symbol of hope. We explored different ways of representing the rainbow and used string to create unique pieces of rainbow art.
Here is a website so that you can have a look at what was in the Staffordshire Hoard. See if you can work out what the mystery objects are!
On Tuesday 5th June, Year Three visited Birmingham. First, we went to Singers Hill Synagogue, which was amazing! We learnt lots about Jewish life and why a synagogue is such a special place. After that, we had a walk through Birmingham city centre and some of us were really surprised at how different it is to Bomere Heath and Shrewsbury. Lastly, we visited Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery to take part in an Anglo-Saxon archaeology workshop. We found out about the Staffordshire Hoard and took part in some archaeological activities, such as soil testing, metal detecting and cleaning artefacts. In the words of Leon, the day got a “five out of five star” review!
Today we have been enjoying Science Day. We have taken part in lots of different activities including:
Making slime to explore changing states
Creating cress heads to learn about plants
Making colour spinners to find out about how we see colour
Testing the materials to make an astronaut’s nappy to learn about absorbency
The pupils in Years 3, 5 and 6 will be going on an exciting trip to Birmingham on 5th June.
Look out for a letter that will come home with your child with further details.
Here are the letters for the Year 4 Liverpool Trip:
If you have any questions, please ask in the school office!
In Science, Stiperstones have been learning about different types of skeleton. Mrs Gregory brought in her rainbow millipedes to show us an example of an exoskeleton.
