Grinshill Class Homework
Times Tables Rockstars
We have again subscribed to Times Tables Rockstars to help the pupils’ quick recall of their times tables. At the moment, we are using it with the older pupils (Key Stage 2) but will roll it into Key Stage 1 in the coming months.
Your KS2 child has a login and can access the online resource to play games and test themselves against the clock for all times tables from x1 up to x12.
They receive rewards in the game, which they can then redeem to ‘buy’ new features for their ‘avatar’.As they continue to improve their speed and accuracy, they move from being a ‘Rookie’ band member to an ‘International Rock Star’ – it is very engaging and the feedback has been excellent from the pupils!

If you have nay questions, please contact the school office.
Reading Eggs / Reading Eggspress!
Your child will have brought home a login for Reading Eggs (Key Stage 1) or Reading Eggspress (Key Stage 2). This online, interactive resource has been purchased by the school to deepen pupils’ reading skills and improve their comprehension in a fun and exciting way. It should be used in conjunction with reading books – Reading Eggs should be seen as additional reading to your child’s regular daily routine.
To login use these links:
or
Click the login button at the top of the page.
Once your child has logged in, you will notice that there are tasks for them to complete – the class teacher will set reading activities for the pupils. Usually these involve reading a passage and then answering questions about it. Please allow your child the time and space to complete these independently in order that the class teacher can make a reasonable assessment of your child’s work. The system sends a report to the teacher about the pupils’ answers, reading time and how many attempts they have made.
We will also be using Reading Eggs / Reading Eggspress in school for developing reading and comprehension skills.
Class teachers will signpost pupils and parents to the activities via the school website and homework books.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
Homework 20th September 2019
This term in science we are looking at birds in our local area. We have noticed that we don’t attract a great variety into school. So, as a class we have decided to make some bird feeders to attract them.
The class have also made the decision to be environmentally friendly and use recycled materials.
If you follow this link it should provide some good ideas.

On Wednesday we hope to make them in class, so homework is to collect all the things they may need. If they want to draw some ideas in their books or they can put in some pictures.
I will provide hot glue gun and bird food.
ALL NEEDS TO BE IN SCHOOL BY WEDNESDAY PLEASE.
