Well done to our Star pupils this week.

We are proud to introduce our Bomere Heath Stars of the Week!
This week we have been learning about winter in our environment and the winter weather. We have explored the signs of winter in our school garden and how it has changed since we last looked at our environment in December. We collected leaves, seeds and other things that we could find and made ice windows.

Welcome back to a new year and new term. I hope you had a fabulous Christmas!
We’ve got lots of exciting things planned this term to help our learning about our new topic – Voyages of Discovery.
We are going to be learning about significant explorers and adventurers, their achievements and the impact that they made on the world around them. We will be looking in depth at the lives of Christopher Columbus, Ernest Shackleton and Felicity Aston. In Science we will be learning about the Animal Kingdom, and will have a visit from Simon Airey, the animal man, to enhance our learning.
Our P.E. days have changed this term, while swimming lessons are ongoing. Year 2 will be swimming each Friday for 5 weeks from 17th February. Children will need to come to school in their P.E. kit every Thursday and Friday until Easter. For this term there will no P.E. on a Monday.
To find out more about the focus in our areas of learning this term, our topic map and subject knowledge organisers are available at the following links.

Thank you,
Mrs Gregory
Here are our Stars for Friday 6th January 2023!
We have awards for Star of the Week, Presentation, Maths and Writing each week.

This term we will be having a change to our P.E. days as all the children will be having swimming lessons before Easter. P.E. days, therefore, will be Thursday and Friday. Please could you ensure that children come into school dressed in P.E. kit on these days.
Many thanks.
This week Pimhill and Haughmond have performed their 2022 Nativity, Baarmy Bethlehem, in front of two full audiences of parents, family and friends. All the children performed fantastically and have made al the staff very proud with the way they have learnt their lines and songs.
Thank you to all those who came along to support the , helped with learning scripts and provided costumes for the characters.

In Haughmond we have learnt about the importance of Children in Need, the work that they do and how we can help. We found out about the history of the charity and how Pudsey has changed since his creation in 1980.

Today in Haughmond we learnt about the symbolism of the poppy in remembrance. We watched the video attached below, joined the national 2 minute silence and found out about Walter Tull’s significance in WW1. Then, this afternoon we decorated poppy biscuits.

This week, Haughmond were visited by Hannah from Shrewsbury Museums and took part in a workshop to enrich our learning about Charles Darwin and why he is a significant person in history. We explored timelines using a range of artefacts, learnt about his life and work and made observations in his style using quill and ink! We really enjoyed our morning and learnt a lot of facts!
