Stiperstones Work – Tuesday 21st April 2020

Hello everyone,

I hope you have enjoyed the first Chapter of our book so far and are finding your way on the websites.

I understand that there may have been a problem with accessing the comprehension work booklets for the first chapter for reading, so for chapter 2 today, I have tried a different way – I have tried to include the actual PDF for you to click on and save, rather the link to the PDF for you to get online (see below).

I will also amend Monday’s post to have the PDF included for Chapter 1 activities, rather than the link. I hope this works for you all now! Please let Mrs Winwood know if there are any further issues.

Reading

Please read capter 2 ONLY today – our first book, ‘The Pirate’s Secret’: https://en.fictionexpress.com/book/the-pirates-secret/

Here is the PDF for the Chapter 2 Activities (Tuesday), rather than a link to the website – The Pirate’s Secret – Day 2 Work (Tuesday)

Monday 20th April

Good morning Pimhill,

I hope you all had a lovely Easter holiday  with lots of chocolate and you were able to do some nice things with your families.  I’ve been gardening painting and doing lots of reading in the sunshine.Have you been listening to Oliver Jeffers reading stories? He is one of my favourite authors

How about starting your morning with Joe Wicks live P.E.? I will be joining in with my children to work off our Easter eggs!

Maths

Maths is going to be a little bit different this term. Each Monday I am going to give you a link to a week’s maths lessons that you can follow and complete the activities each day. All the weeks are on one page so you just need to check you’ve picked the week with that Monday’s date.

I know that not all of you are able to print out the activities, so you can just write the answers and your working out in your book.

Here is the link to the year 1  https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-1/

Here is the link to the reception https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/

Twinkl home learning hub are continuing with daily phonics lessons so continue each day with these. Reception can choose between the 3-5 or 5-7 lessons. Year 1 just the 5-7 for you!

There are activities on reading eggs and education city for you to complete this week.

Have a good day back at ‘home school’

I am missing you all

Mrs Foster

Stiperstones Work Thursday 2nd April 2020

Hi everyone!

Today you can continue to work on your Maths – adding and subtracting fractions and also the work on Reading Eggspress.

There is also Russian culture research to continue with, as well as baking or designing a cake. I thought you might like to see what I have been baking.

I made these chocolate chip and cashew cookies yesterday – they are delicious!

Remember to send any photographs you would like me to see in to Mrs Windood – I would love to see what you are all getting up to!

Remember to practise spellings too, and times tables.

I also thought that today you could enjoy some time out in the garden if you can. Yesterday I did some gardening and It was lovely being outside in the fresh air doing some jobs, maybe you could ask a grown up if you could help with some jobs in the garden too?

Tomorrow, The Body Coach P.E session is in fancy dress – this sounds really fun and I thought you could dress up for tomorrow’s exercise too!

Remember to have fun everyone, it is nearly the Easter holidays!

Miss L-J

Stiperstones Work – Monday 30th March

Hi Stiperstones,

It’s Miss Lloyd-Jones here, I am really missing you all!

It’s great to see you have been doing the work Mr Field has been setting for you, well done and keep up the good work!

This weekend I have been doing a little bit of baking and so I thought that if you have some ingredients already in your cupboards, it might be nice for you to try some baking this week at home with a grown up too. If you don’t have the ingredients, don’t worry! but if you do, send in a picture, I would love to see what you get up to baking throughout the week!

Each day this week, I would also like you to continue to try the Body Coach morning exercise sessions – I will do it along at home with you as well! Remember if you miss it, you can always find it on YouTube later in the day.

Also, a little reminder – please read to a grown up at least 15 minutes a day, and also remember to practise your times tables every day as well! – Times Tables Rockstars is great for this. Remember to try division facts as well as multiplication facts!

e.g. practise questions such as 20  ÷ 2 = 10, not just 2 x 10 = 20.

The faster you get at answering your multiplication and division facts the better! (Remember on Times tables rockstars, the Soundcheck game gives you 25 questions with 6 seconds to answer each question – please try soundcheck at least once a day to build up your speed, as well as anythign else you would like to practise on TT rockstars). You could also ask a grown up to give you a weekly times table test like we do in school with Mrs Norris on a Monday!

I will also put spellings onto the spelling page. As I was off from school the last 2 weeks, I am unsure where you are up to, so I will put a few lists on the page, both for Year 4 and Year 5 and you can see which list you are up to yourselves, I hope this is okay for everyone! Having a weekly spelling test at home like we do in school would be good too!

In school during our Topic lessons, we have researched Liverpool, a city in the UK and Perm, a city in Russia,

Over the next few days, can you research the culture of Perm, Russia and maybe you could present your findings by making a poster about Russian culture? This could include the food they eat, traditional clothing, music, buildings etc. Or you can present this in any other way you would like to show what you have found out. Please feel free to send in any pictures to Mrs Winwood’s email address!

As well as the above things to work on throughout the week, I have also set some Maths and English on Education City for Today.

Have fun, stay safe and keep up the good work everyone!

Miss L-J

Stiperstones and Wrekin Work Friday 27th March 2020

Good morning! Do you think this lovely weather will last? Check it out here:https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather

So I have prepared some work for you today!

There are a lot of ‘screen-based’ activities today – feel free to spend time outside in the sunshine and complete these when it suits you!

I have had some messages from parents who have been very proud of the effort their children have been putting into their work, so keep it up! Well done!

Have a lovely Friday and enjoy the weekend – keep yourselves busy and find time to relax!

Mr F

Wrekin Pupil Work – Tuesday 24th March 2020

Wow – Well done to everyone who completed the online work yesterday! Most of the class completed the Spelling Lesson, Comprehension and Maths on Education City – I am so pleased!

I do hope you have all been able to complete the long multiplication and checked your answers too!

The weather will be pretty good outside today, so make sure you spend some time in the sun in your garden – you could find some bugs, make a bug hotel (search on Google for some great ideas) or help your parents with some spring tidying.

Anyway – onto some work! Here you go:

  • 9am – try out Joe Wicks again https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1
  • English – Spelling Lesson 146 and Comprehension 142 – find these on Reading Eggspress
  • Maths – tackle subtraction today! Log in to espresso and have a go at this sheet Espresso KS2 Maths – Subtracting from 6 digit numbers (The login is student 26770, password is bomere) I’ll post answers later!
  • Next – for some written work in your exercise books – use this BBC Bitesize – Easter and complete a fact-file about Easter from a Christian perspective – make it look fantastic – this is an opportunity for some good writing and pictures, fact boxes and interesting layout!
  • Do the Daily Challenge on Espresso Espresso Daily Challenge – record this in your books

Have a good day, Mr F 😉

Relationship and Sex Education Policy

With our meeting taking place on Thursday 13 February at 6.00pm, we thought it would be useful to share our draft policy – please see attached. It has not changed a great deal for those of you who had read our previous policy, although it has been updated to take into account the Government’s new policy which takes effect in September 2020. As both schools are part of leading the change through the Early Adopters Programme we are implementing changes through this year. Hard copies are available to read at the school office if you would like to access these directly and a final copy will be available on our website once completed. Many thanks.’Relationships and Sex Education Jan 2020 (1)
