This week we have been thinking about how to edit and improve our work. We have written our own stories about Freddie the Fox escaping the Great Fire of London and for homework I would like you to edit the story of Ginger, that we shared together in English.

Reading Eggs / Reading Eggspress!
Your child will have brought home a login for Reading Eggs (Key Stage 1) or Reading Eggspress (Key Stage 2). This online, interactive resource has been purchased by the school to deepen pupils’ reading skills and improve their comprehension in a fun and exciting way. It should be used in conjunction with reading books – Reading Eggs should be seen as additional reading to your child’s regular daily routine.
To login use these links:
or
Click the login button at the top of the page.
Once your child has logged in, you will notice that there are tasks for them to complete – the class teacher will set reading activities for the pupils. Usually these involve reading a passage and then answering questions about it. Please allow your child the time and space to complete these independently in order that the class teacher can make a reasonable assessment of your child’s work. The system sends a report to the teacher about the pupils’ answers, reading time and how many attempts they have made.
We will also be using Reading Eggs / Reading Eggspress in school for developing reading and comprehension skills.
Class teachers will signpost pupils and parents to the activities via the school website and homework books.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
Homework – 20th September
For your homework this week we would like you to practise writing numbers 0 – 10, making sure that they are formed correctly and face the right way. You have a sheet in your homework books to help you, but there are lots of other ways and times that you can try writing them too.
We will be looking out for correctly formed numbers in all your maths lessons!
Homework – 6.9.19
Homework—6th September 2019
This week there are two homework tasks for you to complete, along with practising your spellings and reading to a grown up.
- Next week we are holding the elections for our new student councils. Think carefully and write a letter to me explaining why you should be chosen to represent your Year Group for your choice of council. The choices of council are:
- Worship
- Teaching and Learning
- Eco-council
- Fun and Games
- Health and Safety
- In Science we are learning about humans. Next week please bring in a copy of a photograph of either yourself or someone in your house when they were a baby. Please make sure the back of your photograph is labelled with your name so that I don’t have to guess who it is!
Homework 12.9.18
History – This is a two week project. I would like you to do some research to find out if any of your family members were involved in World War One. Make a poster or factfile about your family member. If nobody was in the war, create a poster about your choice of person in the war. This needs to be of a high enough standard to go on display.
English – Choose the 5 trickiest spellings in your spelling list. Create a mnemonic for each of these words.
Maths – Begin to learn and practise your two times table.
Homework 7th September
Next week we will be holding elections for the new school council. This week your homework is to write about why you should be voted onto one of the council’s and present it to the class next Thursday. The choices of council are:
- Worship
- Fun & Games
- Healthy Helpers
- Curriculum & Learning
- Eco-council
Weekly Homework
Please read every night, for just about 10 minutes.
You don’t have to read our school reading book, can you read the newspaper? Have you looked at any comics lately? How about the back of the cereal box?
Reading is very important, but enjoying what you read is even more important.
Can you count in 2s, 5s and 10s?
Remember I am always right!!
The 8th multiple in the 2 times table is an even number. Am I right or wrong? Prove it!
The 12th multiple in the 5 times table is odd, of course I am right, but prove it!
What happens when you multiply any number by 10? Can you explain why?
